Perhaps the best description of the book is found in the unabridged table of contents. I wrote the book after 17 years of ocean cruising on A) an old wooden ketch and B) a brand new Crealock 34. Advice
shares some of what we learned, as well as some of what we didn't.
While I was writing Advice we were also writing for SAIL Magazine and manning booths at Boat Shows. The idea for the format of the book came from the seminars we gave, and the questions we fielded from prospective cruisers. Advice is a collection of questions and our answers. We never lost sight of the fact that we were all beginners once, and always remembered our own, sometimes painful tenderfoot days. If my humor seems disdainful, it was never meant to be. The object, as always, was to make the read as much fun as possible.
